Three-part session that develops players’ ability to invite pressure and break lines.
This three-part session is used to help introduce and develop the concepts of progressive passing: body shape, far-foot receiving, inviting pressure and breaking lines.
Mark out a playing area relative to the number, age and ability of your players. Set up as in the illustration. This training game is a 3v3 +2. It is directional and position-specific.
The two neutral players are only allowed to move along the end line. When a team is in possession, it becomes a 5v3.
The aim is to score in either of the two small target goals. Players must find the joker (the centre-forward) before they can go to goal, but they can use either joker as many times as they need.
The rondo can be modified by changing the size of the area or the number of players.
1. Teams are set up as a 3v3 and aim to score in the mini-goals
2. A joker is situated on each end line
3. Teams must pass to the joker at the end they are attacking before they can score
