Fun game to develop youngsters’ dribbling, shooting, and turning with the ball skills.
This is a fun game which helps young players to develop their dribbling, shooting, and turning with the ball skills, as well as co-ordination, teamwork and learning to wait for their turn.
Mark out an area relative to the age, number and ability of the players. Place a mini goal in each corner, and divide players into four teams. One team starts next to each goal. Place a number of balls in the middle of the area.
The first player from each team runs out to collect a ball (’rubbish’ or ’trash’) from the middle of the area. They must dribble the ball back and score in their team’s goal (’dump truck’), before the next player in their team can go.
This time, the ball is the players’ dump truck, and the goal is the dump. Place cones randomly within the area. The players the have to stop their truck to pick up the cones (’rubbish/trash’) on their way to the dump.
Encourage players to keep control of the ball, keeping it close to their feet and looking up to see their target.
Players can try different types of finishes when shooting – either passing the ball into the goal with the inside of their foot, or shooting using their laces for more power.
For the progression, encourage the players to stop the ball with the bottom of their foot and collect the rubbish/trash, before continuing their journey to the dump, using a change of speed.
